Dr Waqas Fazal is an Australian and UK trained general and interventional gastroenterologist. He acquired advanced training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology from Royal Adelaide Hospital. He was awarded the fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physician (FRACP) in 2016. 

Dr Fazal subsequently pursued advanced endoscopy fellowships in UK. He had the privilege to work at the prestigious Royal Marsden Hospital NHS Trust London, where he trained in advanced endoscopy techniques like EMR (endoscopic removal of polyps and early cancers), luminal stenting (inserting stents in GI track), Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and gained experience in the management of cancer patients with gastrointestinal symptoms. He subsequently did another year of fellowship in advanced pancreato-biliary endoscopy (ERCP & EUS) at Wolverhampton NHS Trust, UK. He returned to Australia in 2019 to serve his own people.


Bariatric/weight loss endoscopy:

Dr Fazal subsequently developed interest in management of obesity. He travelled overseas again in 2022 to high volume Bariatric centres to train in endoscopic therapies to induce weight loss. Since then he has been performing endoscopic balloon placement and Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) in Brisbane. Currently he is one of the most experienced endoscopist in this field in Queensland.
