Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty / EndoSleeve in Brisbane
Our Interventional Gastroenterologist, Dr Fazal is performing Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty(ESG) for patients in Brisbane/South East Queensland.
Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) is a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure that involves remodelling of the stomach using an endoscopic device called Overstitch. The idea is to reduce gastric lumen to shape it into a tube/sleeve without need for surgery.
With the advancements in endoscopic techniques and devices, new weight loss modalities are becoming available to the Australians. ESG is one of such newer techniques. It has been practiced and researched thoroughly over the last 10 years in the USA, Brazil, Europe and India. Results are very encouraging.
Advantages of ESG
Done as a day procedure. (May require overnight stay for comfort)
Does not involve surgery hence no scar.
No tissue is resected, hence no permanent change in human anatomy.
Potentially reversible if required.
Promises 15-18 % total body weight loss e.g. 100kg person can lose 15-18kg
Does not preclude future Bariatric Surgery
